Collaboration with the Kettering Foundation

We are excited to collaborate with the Kettering Foundation to better understand how deliberative experiences shape students understanding of what it means to be an engaged citizen. This learning will come out of a deliberative forum process that we will be conducting with students, teachers, and parents in one of the schools we work in. The forum will focus on decision making in the school and what involvement, if any, students should have. Through this collaboration, we will have the opportunity to improve the capacity building that we offer students and engage them in a deep evaluation of student government and its place within the school.

As a research institution, the Kettering Foundation works primarily through learning exchanges and other collaborative research with civic organizations, communities, and institutions that are experimenting with ways to strengthen democracy.

We’ll be sure to let you know how the forum goes and share lessons we learn along the way!
